Obituary for Carl Walter Pietsch

Carl Walter Pietsch, lifelong resident of Rolla, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the age of 87.
He was born in Phelps County on February 6, 1930 to the late William Gustav and Ruby Ann (Parkinson) Pietsch.
On May 23, 1952 he married Carolyn Whisler who preceded him in death on January 23, 2007.
Mr. Pietsch was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Prior to his declining health, he was very active in the community. He served as the Civil Defense Director for Phelps County. His memberships include the Rolla Elks Lodge, Rolla Kiwanis Club (past president), and the Rolla First Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. Carl also served on the Rolla Presbyterian Manor Board of Directors and was very active in the Democratic Party. His personal interests included gardening, cooking and spending time enjoying the rural countryside.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald, Earl and Billy Gene and one sister, Neva Dobbins.
He will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes his daughter, Carla Peterson and husband John, of Overland Park, KS; brother, Ervin Pietsch and wife Linda, of Rolla; sister, Carolyn Henderson and husband Don, of Marco Island, FL; two grandchildren, Leah Risener and Leslie Okoye and husband C.J., both of Overland Park; sisters-in-law, Linda Sue Pietsch and Betty Pietsch, both of Rolla; two step grandchildren, Dana Peterson, of Vietnam and Ryan Peterson, of Kansas City, MO; cousins, nieces, nephews, other extended family members and dear friends.
A funeral service for Carl Pietsch will be held at 11 am Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Interment with military honors will follow in the Rolla City Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 10 am Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church in Rolla.
