Obituary for Vernon D. White

Vernon D. White, of Rolla, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the age of 77.
He was born in Edgar Springs, MO on November 11, 1940 to the late Evan and Sarah (Heavin) White.
On February 24, 1961 he married Carol Wallis and they were later blessed with two daughters.
No matter what Vernon was involved in, he went at it like killin snakes. Whether it was restoring cars, building houses, servicing his customers, fishing, or working in his wood shop, he did it with passion and thorough commitment. One of his proudest accomplishments in his life was a distinguished teaching career at the Rolla Technical Institute where he taught HVAC for over 20 years. He loved having a positive impact on people’s lives by not only teaching but caring about their lives. He was very proud he never took any student to the office in 20 years although he did take a few to the tool shed. Vernon’s reputation in business was unmatched, if somebody was stumped as to what or how to heat or cool something, he was the one they sought for direction. Vernon was active in the leadership in many different churches over the past several years and had built many lasting relationships with area pastors. The only thing Vernon was more passionate about than business and hobbies was his family. He was so proud that his kids and grandkids were all in church and know the Lord. Anyone that really knew Brother Vernon, however, knew that his greatest love was for the word of God. He loved to teach God’s word more than anything else and to encourage his listeners to be doers of the word and not hearers only. Vernon was a man of great faith and had a very deep relationship with the Lord. His love for God and his bold faith touched many people. Vernon fought the good fight and now has received his heavenly reward and though he is gone in body the seeds he sowed will reap a harvest throughout eternity
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Glen, Carl, Ira, Dale and Thurman White, and two sisters, Delphia Bujewski and Ruth White.
Vernon will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes his wife of 57 years, Carol White, of their home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Jeff Stephens, of Rolla and Sharon and Michael Gaddy, of Ozark, MO; a brother, Bill White, of Rolla; two sisters, Claudia Hawkins, of Neosho, MO and Beulah Page, of Edgar Springs; brother-in-law, Quintin Wallis, of Waynesville, MO; six grandchildren, Joshua Stephens and wife Heather, Jacob Stephens, Maegan Ray, Noah Ray, Logan Gaddy and wife Anu, and Lauren Gaddy; two great grandchildren, Hudson Stephens and Adeline Gaddy; numerous nieces and nephews, other extended family members and many dear friends.
A funeral service for Vernon White will be held at 11 am Monday, April 30, 2018 at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Interment will follow in Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Rolla. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4-6 pm Sunday, April 29th at Null and Son.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Believer’s Praise Fellowship.
