Obituary for William "Pat" Botts

William "Pat" Botts, of Rolla, Missouri was welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord at 12:15 am, July 5, 2018 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.
Pat, as he preferred to be called, was born in Peoria, IL on January 7, 1945 to the late Arthur T. Botts and Lillian K. (Hendricks) Botts.
He married Sharon Kay Goss on September 24, 1966 and they moved to Rolla in February of 1970 as Pat was assigned with the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop I as a Telecommunications Training Specialist for 25 years. After retiring from the Highway Patrol, Pat worked with Brewer Science for several years before fully retiring from the work force. Among his many interests that he enjoyed was target shooting at the range and keeping engaged in current political topics.
Pat was a Christian man who served his church and his community. He was one of the founders of the television ministry at the First Baptist Church in Rolla. He also worked many years with the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon to benefit muscular dystrophy as the emcee of the local televised segments. He was also a long standing respected member of the Rolla Masonic Lodge.
Pat was a loving husband and father and will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his wife, Sharon Kay Botts, of Rolla; two children, James Arthur Botts, of St. Charles, MO, and Cindy Kay Leonard of Tulsa, OK; his grandson, Xavier James Hollins, also of Tulsa; his sister, Becky Jo Widener of Columbia, MO; one nephew, Robert Widener of Jefferson City, MO; other extended family members and dear friends.
As per Pat’s wishes, a private family gathering will be held reflecting on his love and life.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in honor of Pat’s passion for findind a cure.
